It kicks in if your kids do something daft like stick a knife in the outlet ~ & yes, my boys tried this.

Um, I think surge protectors & powerboards are different ~ Kimba! Why would that be weird?? LOL

I'd say most Americans have a surge protector for their computer. (Is that the same as your powerboard?) And most of those have an on/off switch. But at that, in an electric storm, we just unplug things. It never occurred to us to turn off each switch.

Also, in England there are only 2 or 3 circuits for the whole house. (The little box in the closet - we call it a circuit breaker; you call it a fuse box.) In America there is usually a separate circuit for each room, plus individual ones for the major appliances.

Interesting differences.MamaOlivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12917138266127672566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5508637675893821519.post-3674588563988410102008-03-21T00:23:00.000+00:002008-03-21T00:23:00.000+00:00Weird and possibly dangerous. I suppose they must not worry about electrocution in the US.

A powersurge would kill a computer if you can't turn them off at the wall.kimbahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04006090158222860501noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5508637675893821519.post-29495016917368349492008-03-20T20:14:00.000+00:002008-03-20T20:14:00.000+00:00I looked, I saw ~ that's weird.
